Estate Planning Through an Asset Protection Lens

Much estate planning's emphasis is on tax minimization.  For example, we use credit shelter trusts and generation skipping trusts extensively.  Most planners fail, however, to advise clients how to protect their wealth from divorce, creditors, business failures and potential litigation and predators. The key is educating clients about trusts and drafting them to balance the desire for control and protection. We will review the basic and more advanced strategies which can be integrated with the estate planning objectives.
